Frequently Asked Questions
What is ADHD?
ADHD is a unique difference in brain anatomy and wiring that impacts the executive functions needed to plan, organize, and execute daily tasks. Studies show that ADHD is genetic, thus running in families. Those with ADHD oftentimes are impulsive and have difficulty focusing and staying on task. The ADHD inattentive type may seem absent-minded or forgetful. All individuals possess these characteristics from time to time, but for those with ADHD the predominance of these characteristics often negatively impacts their lives in school, at home, and socially.
Why work with an ADHD Coach?
I believe that we are all amazing human beings with many gifts to offer the world. We have a purpose and are happiest when we pursue that purpose and passion. As an ADHD Coach, I help you align your life towards that purpose. I help you understand your unique brain wiring and discover strategies to increase your motivation, organization, and follow through.
I work predominantly with older teens, college students, and adults. Older teens and college students often want support with planning, prioritizing, and time management. Adults often are seeking ways to navigate the work environment, improved motivation, better communication in relationships, and getting out of the shame cycle that often accompanies ADHD.
I also work with parents of younger children. It's a family approach. Parenting a child with ADHD is not easy, and we oftentimes wonder if we will ever get it right. Our households can be a bit more chaotic and stressful than most. I help parents understand how their child's brain works and how to best motivate, encourage, and support them. Working as a team, we design strategies to empower your child as well as you, the parent(s), and we help bring more structure and peace to day to day living.

What can I expect in the first few appointments?
In order to help you feel confident about the coaching process, I offer a Complimentary Initial Phone Consultation. In the initial phone consult, we will discuss the coaching process and answer any questions you may have. We also will briefly get to know one another and decide if this partnership and the coaching process is a good fit. As we wind up the phone conversation, we will talk about how you feel and if you would like to move forward with the Intake Session.
If you decide to move forward, I will send you a link to the client portal where you will find documents outlining my practice's policies and procedures. You will sign and complete all documents prior to the intake session.
Thereafter, all sessions are booked online. As coaching is not a quick fix solution, the average commitment ranges from 3-5 months and oftentimes can last longer. Typically, we will meet 3-4 times per month for up to one hour at a time. You will book the sessions to fit in with your schedule. These sessions can be booked here.

During the Intake Session, I will ask a lot of questions but also do a lot of listening. The intent of the intake session is to identify why you are seeking ADHD Coaching for either yourself or your child and what you hope to get out of it. We will discuss strengths and learning styles and explore what is getting in your way to live the life you want to live. I want to hear your story and what is true for you. At the conclusion of the intake session, we will set goals for our next meeting and talk about how frequently we need to meet.
